Covering All The Bases is intended for use both as a risk

in sports. Many athletic directors have adopted the strategy of regularly copying and
distributing materials from the book to school athletics personnel in order to ensure that
coaches, physical education instructors, athletics trainers, club sport sponsors,
intramural sport supervisors, and cheerleading sponsors possess a working knowledge of the
legal issues affecting their specific programs. Among the topics covered in the text are
liability for athletic injuries, constitutional and civil rights of student-athletes,
liability issues related to sports event management, participation rights of students with
disabilities, drug testing programs for student-athletes, legal considerations in
transporting student-athletes, liability concerns related to medical assistance and
athletic training, legal issues regarding waivers of liability and warnings, liability for
injuries to officials and spectators, and the legal duties of athletics
personnel.
