As an extension of its publications on liability
for sports injuries and risk managment and its publications on Title IX compliance, Sports
Law Publishing has extensive experience in providing sports law consulting
services for colleges, universities, school districts, individual schools, sports
governing bodies such as the NCAA, NAIA, and NFHS, college athletics conferences, and
state high school athletics associations. Since 1987, Sports Law Publishing
has provided legal consulting services primarily in the following four areas:
Risk
Management Evaluations & Planning: We provide a thorough review
of an institution's athletics programs and facilities and assist the institution in
developing a comprehensive risk management plan designed to increase the level of safety
for student athletes and the level of protection for athletics personnel against liability
for any injuries which do occur.
Title
IX Assessment & Compliance Planning: We provide a thorough
evaluation of an institution's present level of compliance with Title IX as it is enforced
by the Office For Civil Rights and the Courts and assist the institution in developing a
plan of action for correcting any compliance deficiencies.
Sports
Law Continuing Education Seminars: We design seminars to help educate
your coaches, physical education instructors, athletics trainers, club sport sponsors,
intramural sport supervisors, cheerleading sponsors, and other athletics personnel
regarding the legal issues which affect their programs. One option is to have us present a
comprehensive sports law seminar covering all current major topics. Another option is to
have us present a seminar on a single topic such as liability for sports injury and risk
management, Title IX compliance, the application of the Americans With Disabilities Act
applied to athletics, sexual harassment in athletics programs, constitutional and civil
rights of students athletes, or any other topic you believe is relevant for your
personnel.
Litigation
Support Services: We can provide assistance for your institution's
legal counsel in responding to an administrative complaint (e.g. a Title IX OCR complaint)
or to a sports law related lawsuit.
